Cepea, 20/01/2025 – Soybean prices showed different behavior in the United States and Brazil over the past week. According to Cepea researchers, while external prices were boosted by estimates of lower U.S. output and strong demand, domestic values were pressured by expectations of a record crop in the country. Overall, liquidity was lower in Brazil in recent days, since the remainder of the 2023/24 crop is low and harvesting of the 2024/25 season is still just beginning, Cepea researchers also explain. As for Brazil's 2024/25 season, the USDA maintains its projection of 169 million tonnes of soybeans, a record and 10,5% above last season's volume. Conab indicates that 166,33 million tonnes should be produced, also a record. Source: Cepea (www.cepea.esalq.usp.br)
