Cepea, 16/07/2025 – Paddy rice prices remain firm in the Rio Grande do Sul market, Cepea data show. This is the third consecutive week of rising rice prices, which now show an accumulated gain of 2,2% for the partial month of July – it's worth recalling that in June, the decline was 6% and, for the year to date, the drop exceeds 30%. Cepea researchers indicate a stronger buyer presence was observed, aimed at replenishing stocks. Sellers, on the other hand, are staying further away from deals, which forced industry players to raise their offer prices. Growers consulted by Cepea also remain concerned about the new crop, given prices considered low, and are apprehensive about the tariff war launched by the United States, which could raise input prices. In a report released this month, Conab estimated 2024/25 rice output at 12,32 million tonnes, 16,5% above the 2023/24 season. Globally, also in July, the USDA slightly lowered its global rice production estimate for the 2025/26 season by 0,1%, to 541,27 million tonnes. Source: Cepea (www.cepea.esalq.usp.br)
