Cepea, 25/06/2025 – Cepea surveys show cotton lint prices are falling in Brazil, trading at the nominal levels of March this year. Researchers explain that, with the harvest – possibly a record – of the 2024/25 crop starting to gain pace in Brazil, sellers are showing more willingness to clear remaining lint lots from the 2023/24 season. Buyers, watching this scenario, are offering lower prices for new lot purchases. The downward move in domestic prices is reinforced by the weaker external lint market, the Center also notes. This past Monday, the 23rd, the CEPEA/ESALQ index, with payment in 8 days, closed at R$ 4,1655/lb, the lowest value since March 21 this year (R$ 4,1652/lb). For the partial month of June (through the 23rd), the index has accumulated a 5,7% decline. In the field, according to Conab, 4% of the Brazilian area had been harvested as of June 21.
