Cepea, 17/06/2025 – Wheat prices remain weak in the domestic market. Cepea researchers indicate that the pressure comes from declines in external prices and the exchange rate, advancing planting in Brazil, and weak domestic demand. Many mill agents report being well-stocked, while others are working with imported wheat. Wheat growers, in turn, are focused on fieldwork. As a result, Cepea researchers report low liquidity in the domestic market. In the field, Conab indicates that, as of June 7, 42% of the area earmarked for wheat had been planted in Brazil. And, in a report released this month, Conab estimates wheat area at 2,67 million hectares, 1% below the May estimate and 12,6% below the 2024 crop. Production is forecast at 8,192 million tonnes, down 0,8% from the previous report but up 3,8% from last season's volume. Yields are estimated at 3,06 t/ha, up 0,3% from the previous report and 18,9% above the previous season. Source: Cepea (www.cepea.esalq.usp.br)
