Cepea, 19/03/2025 – Despite falling in February, Brazilian coffee exports total 33,45 million bags in the partial figures for the current crop (July/24 to February/25), a record for this period, based on the historical series from Cecafé (the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council). Cepea researchers highlight that, from the outset, the 2024/25 season has been marked by high shipment volumes. During that period, European Union legislation on imports of deforestation-free products ended up bringing forward a large share of coffee shipments – this occurred before the announcement that implementation of the EU regulation would be postponed. The Center notes that, had the legislation actually taken effect in 2025, Brazilian coffee shipments could have been limited. Over the coming months, exports are expected to remain weak, due to the low quantity of 2024/25 crop beans still available for trading and to the off-season period. Source: Cepea (www.cepea.esalq.usp.br)
