Cepea, 13/01/2025 – Cepea surveys show corn prices started 2025 on an uptrend. According to the Center, the momentum comes from stronger demand and sellers holding back. Not even the start of the summer corn and soybean harvest has been enough to contain the recent gains. Buyers believed that, as the harvest progressed, some producers might make a larger volume of the cereal available, due to the need to free up warehouse space. However, as Cepea researchers explain, sellers are focused on meeting buyers' supply needs while prioritizing fieldwork; for now, producers show no need to free up warehouse space. Against this backdrop, corn supply in the spot market is limited. Source: Cepea (www.cepea.esalq.usp.br)
