Cepea, 27/11/2024 – The CEPEA/ESALQ arabica coffee type 6, strictly soft to soft, delivered in the São Paulo capital, index started this week near R$ 2 thousand per 60 kg bag, accumulating a sharp gain of 30,44% for the month (through the 25th). This past Monday, the 25th, the index closed at R$ 1.989,64 per 60 kg bag, the highest real value in the historical series since January 21, 1998, in real terms (deflated by the October/24 IGP-DI). Cepea researchers explain that the momentum comes from very limited coffee supply in the domestic spot market. Even amid the successive gains, arabica trading remains slow. According to the Center, producers are staying out of the market, betting on further gains, while another share prefer not to trade this close to year-end, for tax reasons.
