Cepea, 09/06/2025 – Corn prices continue to fall in Brazil, a trend that has been in place since mid-April, Cepea surveys show. According to the Center, the decline remains tied to buyers pulling back, betting on further price drops based on rising supply, especially with the start of the second-crop harvest, and on limited storage capacity – Conab estimates output at 99,8 million tonnes, 11% above the previous crop. In addition, Cepea researchers explain that recent declines in the dollar and in external prices are reducing export parity and reinforcing pressure on domestic prices. As for Brazilian shipments of the cereal, in May the volume sent abroad was limited to just 39,92 thousand tonnes, well below the 413 thousand tonnes recorded in May/24, according to Secex data analyzed by Cepea.
