Cepea, 27/08/2025 – The paddy rice market in Rio Grande do Sul continued to show low liquidity last week, a Cepea survey shows. According to the Center, agents report a mixed, uncertain scenario, amid falling external prices and government intervention through auctions of put-option contracts at prices above those currently in the market. On the supply side, growers chose to wait for greater clarity before entering into new commitments. Cepea researchers also note that industry players, pressured by persistent difficulties in selling milled rice, continued to have limited room to pass on more attractive prices for paddy rice. As a result, the preference throughout the week was for deals involving lots already deposited at milling facilities, but in small volumes. Source: Cepea (www.cepea.esalq.usp.br)
