Cepea, 20/08/2025 – Average paddy rice prices continue to edge lower, Cepea surveys show. According to researchers, besides external declines and the exchange rate, which reduces import parity, lower domestic liquidity explains the pressure on domestic prices. Overall, according to the Center, a certain tug of war between agents is being observed. Buyers continue to report difficulties selling milled rice, which limits offers of higher prices for paddy rice. Some industry players moderately lowered their purchase prices, while others prioritized product already stocked at milling facilities. On the growers' side, also according to Cepea surveys, decisions varied by micro-region: some maintained a cautious stance, while others made new lots available to raise cash and prepare for the 2025/26 crop.
